Frequently asked

How much does cenote diving cost in Tulum?

For two guided cenote dives, the centres' own sites list: Diving Cenotes Tulum 135 USD for Dos Ojos plus 25 USD gear, La Calypso 160 USD for Dos Ojos with gear included, Agua Clara 3,000 MXN and Flying Fish 3,200 MXN, with an October special of 2,720 MXN. Diving Universe works by quote, so its price is n/a.

Do I need a certification to dive the cenotes in Tulum?

For most cenote dives, yes: the rate pages ask for Open Water, and sites such as the Pit or Angelita often require Advanced. Without a certification you can do Discover Scuba, listed at 140 USD by La Calypso in an open-air cenote, or snorkel the cenotes instead.

What is the difference between cenote, cavern and cave diving?

The guided cenote dives sold by these centres are cavern dives along set routes, for certified open-water divers. Going deeper into the cave systems needs specific overhead training: Diving Universe lists a Cavern Diver course, and La Calypso says its guides are full cave dive masters.

Can I also dive the reef or Cozumel from Tulum?

Yes. Diving Cenotes Tulum lists 2 Tulum reef dives at 110 USD and a 3-dive Cozumel day at 350 USD, Flying Fish runs reef dives with seasonal bull sharks, and Agua Clara and Diving Universe both work in Cozumel too.

Is this list sponsored?

No. Dive centres are not charged and cannot pay to appear. Rule: Google rating of 4.4 or higher, at least 40 reviews, one branch per brand, ranked by a review-weighted score.
